Live Tango Tours™ 2008 in Buenos Aires

Join Live Tango Tours, August 16th - 31st, 2008

Carlos Copello Dance School

Did you ever dream about learning Tango, the dance of passion, melancholy and love? How about visiting one of the most cosmopolitan, beautiful cities, which many call the Paris of Latin America? Now you can study Argentine tango in Buenos Aires at the most authentic tango dance academy in the city, Carlos Copello Tango Escuela. Buenos Aires and the Tango are inseparable and during this tour you will truly experience the fusion of both, explore the sophistication of Buenos Aires and seduction of Tango, and get a taste of all things Porteno – the word Buenos Aires locals use to describe both themselves and the culture of the city.

Sexy and syncopated: pared, seductive and predatory; the tango is both a dance and a modern secular symbol. As the 21 century begins, the tango remains a dominant metaphor of our age, a significant sign for a complex of ideas and possibilities. It is a not a dance; it is a philosophy, life itself, always felt from the deepest of emotions and never predictable, but yet the moment to savor.

Come and experience the blissful combination of dance, music, architecture, fashion and history. Join us in Buenos Aires!

Adriana Perillo, Buenos Aires, Argentina

As native of Argentina, Adriana has a deep and intimate knowledge of the culture. She has a PhD in English, and teaches English to adults incorporating her love of acting and art history. Having grown up in Buenos Aires, Tango dancing is her passion.

In her travels, Adriana realized how difficult it is for people who have just arrived in a new city to fully enjoy and embrace the new culture. To facilitate this in Buenos Aires, she provides rental accommodation through her “Rent in Buenos Aires” business, offering “Welcome to Buenos Aires” seminars and “Spanish for Travelers” classes. She knows the hot spots in Buenos Aires for food, clothing, culture and milongas. In addition, she has specialized knowledge of local resources such as city tours, a day at a ranch, El Tigre tour, as well as tours to different parts of Argentina. She loves to make people feel at home in Buenos Aires, and wants to make things easy for travelers to make the most of their trip experiencing the magic of Buenos Aires.

Liya Sharif, San Diego, California

Liya’s passion for dance began at the age of eight when she entered The Professional Choreographic Dance Academy in the former Soviet Union. Liya has received rigorous training in Russian ballet, folk and theater and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in dance and choreography. After that, she joined National Dance Company of Russia and toured extensively around the world. In the early 90s' she immigrated to the United States, where she continued her career in dance, while pursuing her second degree in psychology and communications from the University of California, San Diego. Liya became Principal Dancer with Patricia Rincon Dance Collective (PRDC), a jazz and modern dance company, taught dance extensively in San Diego and Los Angeles, while also studying salsa and afro-cuban styles of dance, realizing her tremendous attraction to Latin music and dance.

Liya’s obsession with tango, which will never be cured, began in 2007, when she fulfilled her dream of learning tango by traveling to Argentina and studying with one of the most prominent tango dancers and choreographers of our time, Carlos Copello . After her return, it became clear to her she wanted others to discover the magic of tango, and she created Live Tango Tours with her partner in Argentina, Adriana Perillo. The two developed the highest quality program to introduce Americans to the spectacular tango dance and its mysterious creator - capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires.
